The city of Basel
Basel, which Basel in German, Baal in French or Basilea in Italian, is an ancient Swiss city and one of the most important centers of art, music, architecture and industrial architecture, and the pharmaceutical industry in Switzerland, thanks to its central location at the meeting point of the Swiss, German and French border along the Rhine, which is its port for river transport to the world. It extends north as a natural limit between Germany and France and penetrates the heart of Europe to flow into the North Sea via Bonn and Cologne, Germany, and finally reached the Dutch city of Rutter Dam. The city of Basel is the most popular city after Zurich and Geneva and an important centre for hosting exhibitions and conferences. It has a large number of theatres and many museums, with 40 world-renowned museums, and is the most museum-intensive city in Switzerland, as well as being the oldest educational university in the country founded in 1460, i.e. you are on a historic tourist trip in the heart of Europe!
If you are with your children, do not let them miss out on the chance of them visiting Basel Zoo, the first zoo in Switzerland. Basel zoo is one of the most interesting and attractive zoos in Europe, with about 600 species of animals, but shopping in Basel has a special flavor. Combine shopping with sightseeing, especially for the footprint of the border region of Switzerland, Germany and France. Don't forget Europa Park, which competes with Disneyland and is located within German regions but close enough to Basel!
